Kenny Dalglish has sensationally departed Liverpool following a hugely disappointing Premier League campaign.

The 61-year-old Reds’ legend left the club following showdown talks with John W Henry and Tom Werner, who head the Merseyside giants’ American Fenway Sports Group owners, after guiding the team to a lowly eighth spot – their joint lowest ever Premier League finish – this past season which was largely down to just six wins at Anfield.

Dalglish, who replaced Roy Hodgson in January 2011 for his second stint at the helm, did lead the club to silverware in the Carling Cup and an FA Cup final appearance, where they lost 2-1 to Chelsea on 5th May, but he has paid the price for a poor league record having spent over £100million to bring in the likes of Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson.

Former boss Rafa Benitez is 9/2 to now return to Liverpool for a second spell, while Wigan chief Roberto Martinez is 2/1 and former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas can be backed at 8/1 to replace Dalglish, who won nine league titles, three European Cups, three FA Cups and five League Cups during his combined 15 years of service as a player and manager at Anfield.

The exit of Dalglish follows on from director of football Damien Comolli and communications chief Ian Cotton’s recent departure out of the club’s exit door.

Chelsea’s players insist they will hold no fear facing Bayern Munich in their own backyard in Saturday’s Champions League final.

WBA super world light-middleweight champion Cotto will be looking to defend his titles when he faces the undefeated Mayweather in Las Vegas on Saturday night in the biggest fight of the year so far.

The date was initially set aside for Mayweather to take on Manny Pacquiao in what would have been the biggest fight for a generation.
